Should You Turn Off Your Meta Ads Over Christmas?
Nov 10, 2025
I’ve been running holiday campaigns for 10+ years and here’s what I tell every client come December...
By the time December rolls around, I’m usually crawling to the finish line.
You too?
The inbox is overflowing. You're juggling end-of-year launches, last-minute client requests, and trying to remember if you’ve actually wrapped all my presents yet or just thought about doing it while mentally responding to Instagram DMs.
And somewhere in the chaos, this little voice pipes up:
"Should I pause my Facebook and Instagram Ads for the holidays?"
It’s a fair question. I get it from business owners every single year.
So let me break it down for you — including how to strategically plan your Christmas campaigns without burning out (hint: you don’t need to be tweaking ads on Boxing Day).
FIRST UP: WHAT EVEN IS Q5?
“Q5” refers to the 10-day period between December 21 and December 31. It's the sweet spot where ad costs drop, audience scroll time increases, and most advertisers are napping off their pavlova.
Here’s what happens during Q5:
✔️ CPMs (cost per impressions) drop
✔️ Meta usage goes up
✔️ Buyer behavior shifts (more self-gifting, clearance shopping, and “New Year, New Me” purchases)
✔️ Most advertisers pull back — which means you have less competition
Translation?
If you’re smart about how you show up, you can win big during this period without blowing the budget or losing your mind.
SHOULD YOU PAUSE YOUR ADS?
Here’s the simple decision tree I use with clients:

Remember: Pausing your ads for 7+ days resets the learning phase, which can mess with performance in January. But wasting money on uninterested audiences is worse. Balance is key.
HOW TO PREP YOUR Q5 ADS WITHOUT BURNING OUT?
Here’s what I do for clients (and what I recommend inside my ads courses and workshops):
Set it up before Christmas
Batch and schedule your lead + sales ads early. You don’t want to be writing copy with a food coma or on your third round of Monopoly.
Refresh your creative
Update your ad visuals and copy to feel seasonally relevant:
- “Christmas Clearance”
- “Treat Yourself” offers
- “New Year, New You” angles (great for course creators!)
Include urgency
This is where many ads flop. Use countdown timers, “ends Dec 31” phrasing, and time-limited deals to prompt action.
Flip the message
Shift from gift-buying for others → to treating yourself or investing for the New Year.
Think:
“You’ve taken care of everyone else. Now it’s your turn.”
READY TO SET YOUR META ADS UP FOR Q5 SUCCESS (WITHOUT THE OVERWHELM?) 🛠
That’s exactly what we teach in Ace Your Course Ads.
You’ll walk away with:
- Your Lead Generation Campaign live and ready to attract qualified, conversion-ready prospects.
- Your Sales Campaign prepped and ready to go for Boxing Day (or New Year promos) or whenever you want it to start!
- Copy, creative, targeting — all sorted in a day.
No fluff. No 10-module course. Just “log in, get this done. TODAY!”
FINAL THOUGHT
I know this season gets busy. And tempting as it is to turn everything off and hide in a blanket fort with Netflix, Q5 is one of the most underestimated growth windows of the year.
With the right prep (and a few ad tweaks), you can keep things running while you rest, and come back in January with leads flowing, sales rolling, and your systems already working in the background.
Let’s make the end of 2025 your launchpad, not your burnout point.
P.S. DON'T WAIT TILL DECEMBER 23RD TO START ALL THIS 😅
